Like, The Grudge, Friday the 13th, The Candyman, The Human Centipede, The Fly etc. - mostly zombie films get the lower rating.

I don't know why The Grudge got such a low rating... I loved it! The original Friday the 13th paved the way for most slasher films! But that could be part of the problem. Most horror films are really just slasher flicks with no plot to them. I used to love watching horror flicks, until they became a sort of carbon copy of the next one. I find that I prefer a good suspense film compared to "horror". A good movie that provides both is The Strangers starring Liv Tyler, based on a true story. Another good movie that provides suspense is Se7en... I can't tell you the end, but I never saw it coming :).

Because most of them are pretty predictable, especially those that have the "teen kids making out end up getting killed" theme.

It all depends on what movies you are comparing them to.
