Soccer cleats as the word says are soccer shoes with cleats/studs for playing on outdoor normally and most commonly on natural grass Stud design to have grip on the ground and being able to stop, change direction, sprinting etc. since grass can actually make you slip if you where to used common sneakers cleats are design to perform on pitches.

Soccer trainers are usually design for Turf (artificial grass) and labeled TF and other trainers design for indoor gym like surfaces labeled IC.

TF shoes have small studs all over the sole plate because Turf needs are different then Natural grass, on Turf you don't need that much 'dig in' like on Natural surfaces so there's no need for long studs.
And IC trainers are for indoor gym like courts like on basketball and the sole plate us mainly sticky plain rubber to gain so grip on that slippery surface.

Depending on the surface you are playing you need to get the proper footwear.
