You can't prove he smashed it to the satisfaction of either court. He's just going to say he left it on the lawn (exactly as you did with his stuff), and he doesn't know how it was broken. It's a tie. Just let it go.

Small price to pay to be rid of scum like him. I would in no way suggest that you should do anything immature - not just yet. Wait until he's got a job and isn't home

So I lent out my computer to my mother's ex as a kind gesture (his computer died on him and I had an extra laying around) he's recently lost his mind and started treating my mother more like garbage so I put all the stuff he still had in the house on the lawn. Well, I woke up this morning to find my computer smashed on the sidewalk outside my house. Can I charge him? What can I get for it? He's unemployed and on wellfare so is it even worth trying to get compensation? I'm in Saskatchewan, Canada btw.
