Plant an annual grass, like winter rye. Spread the seeds out over the area, then water them well using a sprinkler. The grass will grow, and it will keep the soil from washing away.

Putting the question under gardening might get you better answers. You've listed this under laundry.

I had this problem in one area of my yard. I leveled the area with paving stones.

Grade the land to slope differently. Make a one brick wall.
