pints is a pound the world around is NOT true.
Pints are a volume measure, pound is a weight measure.
A pint of tomatoes would weight much more than a pint of oregano but still be each a pint.
a pint of milk is much heavier than a pint of basil leaves.
you will need to weigh the tomatoes for accuracy.
While the store may sell them in pints, most stores also have those scales hanging in the produce section to weight things. put your pint of tomatoes in there to see how heavy they are. 2 pints may well be a pound but you won't know until you measure it. Could even be more than a pound.

the universal measure is a pint's a pound the world around. So try the pint amount in yur recipe and see if it doesn't work. I would get 2 pints so if it doesn't look like enough tomatoes you can add some more.
