What can I plant in a shallow container?

Postby halden26 » July 21st, 2013, 6:18 am

I have two circular tin containers 2 inch deep 9 inches in diameter. Instead of throwing them away I would like to plant something and leave them in my room.

Before thinking about planting something in them you would have to drill drain holes, then put some type of tray underneath to catch any water or dirt (available at home stores). Any small plant where the roots can be spread out including Bonsai's would work. Anchoring may be necessary to keep the plant from tipping. You could also make a rock/sand garden
Good luck

lots of things will grow in them.

if you some dried beans in your food pantry , you could plant them and vines that grow from them.

or get some Ivy vine plant and grow that.

get some clippings off of friends or nieghbors plants and put them in there.

just plant what ever you want .

CACTUS , hahahah ,, voted the most boring indoor plant IN THE WORLD !!

As mentioned, cacti and succulents which have shallow roots would grow there. But you must put holes in the bottom for drainage so will need a saucer under it, but the problem with tin is that it will rust.
